The Kogi State Government has approved the appointment of new Education Secretaries for Yagba East and Okehi Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the administration of basic education across the state.

The appointments, announced by the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), take immediate effect following the retirement of two senior education administrators who have completed years of meritorious service in the state’s education sector.

The statement noted that these appointments are aimed at repositioning the education sector through effective leadership, continuity, and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.

According to a statement signed by Mallam Abdulrazak Muhammed Yusuf, the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Abolarin Oluwole Isaac has been appointed as the new Education Secretary for Yagba East LGEA, while Alhaji Shittu Onotu Audu has been appointed to serve as Education Secretary for Okehi LGA.

The appointments followed the retirement of Mr. Balogun Amos Olusegun, who bowed out after years of dedicated service as Education Secretary in Yagba East, and Alhaji Suleiman Ishaq Sagir, who retired after successfully completing his service in Okehi Local Government Area.

The SUBEB Chairman commended the outgoing officials for their commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth of basic education in their respective local governments.

He described their years of service as commendable and appreciated their dedication to strengthening the education system in Kogi State.

“The retiring Education Secretaries have served meritoriously and contributed significantly to the development of basic education in the state. Their commitment and years of service remain highly appreciated,” he stated.

He also charged staff members in both local government education authorities to extend maximum cooperation and support to the newly appointed Education Secretaries in order to sustain ongoing reforms in the sector.

Yusuf stressed that the appointments align with the education development agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, particularly the administration’s commitment to improving access to quality basic education across the state.

“All staff are urged to accord the new Education Secretaries full support as we continue to advance Governor Ododo’s vision for quality basic education and improved learning outcomes for every child in Kogi State,” Yusuf added.
