Kakanda Women in Kogi State have expressed their commitment towards supporting and mobilising women across the state to ensure an overwhelming victory for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11 gubernatorial election.

A press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed and made available to journalists in Lokoja stated that the women came to the conclusion after a meeting they held with the speaker of the State Assembly.

The statement quoted the women to have noted that the decision of the current administration to upgrade the stool of their paramount ruler in the state, the Agankyu, to a first class status was a decision that has shown the love the Governor has for the kingdom, stressing that they would reciprocate the gesture through massive votes for the ruling party in the next gubernatorial election in the state.

Leaders of the various women groups who attended the meeting said the speaker is their son and that as the first Kakanda man to have ever attained the position, they were ready to assist in ensuring its preservation in the area, noting that they would not make the mistake of supporting another party.

They urged women across the state to mobilise and support someone that has the best interest of women and youths at heart, adding that like Yahaya Bello, the speaker is involving the group in his appointments so far.

The women noted their confidence in the ability of the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to replicate the same and bring development to Kakanda Land and the state in general.

Responding, the speaker, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf expressed gratitude to the women, and appealed for them to prevail on groups and associations they belong across the state to ensure they vote overwhelmingly for the ruling party.

While promising not to betray their trust, Rt Honourable Umar promised to use the opportunity of his office to create employment opportunities for the youths, empower the women and improve the area’s and the state’s infrastructure in all sectors.
