The Leke/Omede governorship campaign council has berated the Kogi state government over plots to stifle opposition ahead November 11 election.

Reacting to a viral memo which purportedly emanated from Kogi state government to book all hotel rooms across the 21 local governments in the state, the spokesman of the Leke/Omede campaign, Chief Shola Adebola, said the move was a “shambolic display of clownish desperation”.

The campaign council of the candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), hon. Leke Abejide, said “its obvious that the level of desperation of the failed and fast collapsing administration of Alh. Yahaya has reached an all time high”.

“A recent directive through local government officials to close down hotels under the guise of booking them from the 4th to 12th of November is not only a waste of state resources, but shambolic display of clownish desperation .

“It is a ploy to have access to available abode for thugs and merceneries in order to disorganize the election.

“No doubt about the obvious fact, Yahaya Bello 3rd term agenda has failed, hence we enjoined with hotel entrepreneur’s to ignore such directive and hook up with the good people of the state to flush out this evil heritage that is designed to pass from one sibling to the other. Afterall, this government has made doing business in Kogi state hellish for business men and women in the past 8years with dubious tax regimes and policies,” he said.

The Leke/Omede campaign said it is also aware of Yahaya Bello’s plan of recruiting thugs on daily basis from neighboring states for the purpose of disrupting free elections, especially at the strong bases of other candidates.

“We call on the necessary federal authority to watch out for this theatrical desperation at play presently in kogi state.

“Elder Leke Abejide the governorship candidate of ADC together with his deputy, Dr. Idris Omede are poised in taking over on the 27th of January, 2024 after a resounding victory on the 11th of November. Our people are tired of these open display of desperation and diabolical actions, and are set to vote out Yahaya Bello and his stooge.”
