Kogi Governor’s Cup Zooms to Quarter-Final

The 2015 Kogi State Governor’s Cup has entered the quarter-final stage with crack pairings.

The revived soccer competition is being competed among the 21 Local Government Areas in the state.

Omala Local Government will on Friday start the battle for the last four ticket against their counterpart from Igalamela. This will be all Igala affairs between the two councils.

The boys from the state capital, Lokoja LGA will be taking Kabba-Bunu LGA on Sunday.

Saturday, 5th of September will be the date for the encounter between Dekina LGA and Okehi LGA while the last match for the last will be decided between Adavi Local Government and Kogi LGA on Sunday, the 6th of September, all at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.

According the General Secretary of Kogi State Football Association, Augustine Ogunmola, the Semi-final will come up on 12th and 13th of next month while the final will be decided on Saturday, 26th of September in Lokoja.

Ogunmola added that Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Ichalla Wada is expected to be the special guest of honor as other relevant football stakeholders as well as top government officials will also grace the finale.

The Kogi State Governor’s Cup was last played about 10 years ago before the present administration of Governor Wada accepted to revived the age-long competition in conjunction with the state FA.

Omala LGA vs Igalamela LGA – 28/8/2015.

Kabba-Bunu LGA vs Lokoja LGA – 30/8/2015.

Dekina LGA vs Okehi LGA – 5/9/2015.

Adavi LGA vs Kogi LGA – 6/9/2015.

Semi-Final will be decided on 12/13 of September, 2015.
