Dear good people of Kogi East,
We want to draw our attention to the present political situation of our district as we prepare for the 2027 general elections, Kogi East approaches another defining moment in its political journey and the conversation must move beyond slogans and party symbols. It must focus on one question: who has the capacity, experience, and proven commitment to advance the interests of the good people of Kogi East, the (Igala-Bassa) at the National Assembly? This is important because since the creation of our dear State (Kogi), which is multi-ethnics, the district has produced people who always strategically used the instrumentality of the Senate for attaining equity and development.
For this reason, we make the case that Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho remains a political asset to the good people of Kogi East and cannot afford to overlook in the race for Senate at this time. Some people may want to ask, why him?

Leadership they say is best judged by results.
Sen. Echocho empowerment programmes has cut across the district politically and among which are, the trained and empowered widows, thousands of youths across the senatorial district, creating pathways to self-reliance line which has never been seen in a region where unemployment and underdevelopment was a pressing issue. That kind of direct intervention matters to our people as well.
Legislative and Executive Experience
Let me State for the record that the Senate is not an entry-level institution. It demands lawmakers who understand the process and procedure, budgeting and lobbying and how to convert constituency needs into federal policy and projects that will attract constituents and the government to always do more.
Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho’s political journey in the last 7 years has giving him that advantage. He has served as Committee Chairman to some committees, among which is the present Chairman Committee on Custom, vice chairman finance committee, member of Senate committee on budget, and so on and so forth, representing Kogi East, and two-term Senator. That latitude of experience means he already knows the workings of the Red Chamber and the corridors of power at the national level. That wealth of experience translates to stronger representation and better access to federal resources if given the opportunity to serve for the third term, Kogi East and the State at large will be among the advantageous district in sharing formula.
*It is on record that during his first tenure as Senator, he has sponsored various bills that are of ndv
Understanding Kogi East Major Priorities:
Our dear good people of Kogi East, the challenges we face are peculiar:
They are inadequate federal presence, gaps in infrastructure, youth unemployment, and concerns around security and education. A senator from the district must therefore be someone who can legislate on these issues and also lobby for projects that address them directly, as he havelc been doing ever since we went there to represent our senatorial district not somebody who will abandon his duties in the Red Chambers and be engaged with clout chasing on social media.
Having served as a senator through similar challenges as outlined above, Distinguished Senator Echocho understands the gap between policy and impact. He has demonstrated interest in healthcare, agriculture, and human capital development including the empowerment of widows, youths and orphans, and other critical support to the growth of the district
The argument and analysis regarding the importance of maintaining both continuity and capacity within various systems and structures is fundamentally significant, as it explores how these elements contribute to stability and efficiency in an ever-evolving environment.
In a civilised nation like ours, elections are about the future, but the future is built on lessons from the past. There is no gain saying the fact that as at present, Kogi East needs a senator who does not require a learning curve, a Senator who will sponsor and co-sponsor bills that matter to the senatorial district and effectively oversight federal agencies on projects meant for the people.
That is the value of political assets: people whose experience becomes the people’s advantage. Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho PhD fits that description.
Democracy thrives when voters choose based on antecedents, not sentiments. In the past, Kogi East has had a history of producing leaders who have shaped national discourse. To sustain that tradition, we must send representatives who combine local knowledge, industrial knowledge with national reach.
Chief Echocho is currently serving, and the record of that service is open for review. As we decide who carries the mandate of the people of Kogi Eastern senatorial district, experience, capacity, and commitment should guide us. On those counts, Dr. Jibrin Isah Echocho PhD stands out as a political asset and political tools for the good and great people of Kogi East at the national assembly as Senator for the third term.
When we see some person’s spending 16 to 20 yes at the national assembly, I said to myself, is it a crime for Kogi State to have a great men like them?
Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi CON
Lagos West Senatorial District, (APC). Political journey as a Lawmaker.
- House of Assembly Member for Alimosho State constituency 2003-2011
- House of Representatives member for Alimosho Federal Constituency 2011-2015 (Chairman of the only constitutional Committee in the house of Reps that Committee of Public Accounts)
- Senator representing Lagos West, 2015-2019 (Vice Chairman of Senate Committee on Communications, member of the Finance, Marine, Interior, and Science and Technology Committee of the Senate)
- Senator Representing Lagos West 2019-2023
- Senator representing Ogun West 2023-2026 (Chairman Senate committee on appropriation)
2026- APC governorship candidate, Ogun State.
In the last 15 years, Yayi has been in the National Assembly and in the last 23 years, he has been a lawmaker.
Comparing Yayi with even a third term senator is a misleading comparison as I have read in some publication. He has more resources and capacity than any other senators apart from the president of the senate and deputy president of the senate.
Can Kogi grow such a leader? Especially with the growing number of pull him down syndrome we have in the state.
We want Sen. Jibrin Isah Echocho PhD to continue for the third term to represent us as Senator for Kogi East. We so move and so help us God, Ameen.
