Kogi Central Uncleared Civil Servants Cry Out: Justice Must Come Before Fresh Recruitment

The Group of Uncleared Civil Servants in Kogi Central Senatorial District has successfully held its weekly meeting, renewing its call on the Kogi State Government to urgently address the prolonged injustice suffered by workers affected by the 2015 screening exercise.

Many of these workers, particularly those under SUBEB, have remained uncleared for years, leaving families in hardship and uncertainty.

Our demand is simple and just: before any fresh recruitment of teachers, the affected workers should be given the opportunity to return to their duty posts, while an independent verification team visits the schools to confirm their physical presence, qualifications, and genuine employment records.

Why recruit new teachers while experienced workers whose cases remain unresolved are still crying for justice?

The political consequences of unresolved grievances should not be underestimated. As future elections approach, the people will remember how government policies affected their lives and families. The administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello remains part of that political history, particularly for workers and families who believe they suffered greatly as a result of the screening exercise.

Kogi Central must confront these grievances with truth and justice. No amount of political intimidation, threats, or sentiment can erase the pain of workers who have waited for years to be heard. The road to genuine political unity must begin with fairness, reconciliation, and the correction of past injustices.

We therefore passionately appeal to the present Kogi State Government: before recruiting new teachers, revisit the cases of the uncleared workers. Give them a fair hearing. Verify them at their duty posts. Restore those genuinely found to have been wrongly affected.

This is not merely a political demand. It is a demand for justice, dignity, survival, and the restoration of hope.

Justice delayed must not become justice permanently denied.
