A former legislative aide, Julius Olushola Abel-Ontop, has advised the people to vehemently reject the wish of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state to record a hundred percent victory in the coming House of Assembly elections on Saturday, March 18.

He said this in response to a statement released to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, credited to Kogi APC Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello through his media aide, Hamzat Isa-Amoka.

Abel-Ontop, a former Special Assistant on New Media to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, stressed that having one-party in the State’s legislature is not democratically and developmentally healthy for the state especially at this time.

He added that in his experience, the outgoing 7th Assembly which is a one-party, APC-controlled House, has contributed most little to the development of the state in the past 4years.

He said one-party legislature won’t give room for healthy competition cum criticism for checks and balances of the executive which is the main purpose of the legislature.

Abel-Ontop, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who is also a former House of Assembly aspirant, called on Kogi electorate to call on God to help them forbid a one-party legislature and also forbid it with their action by coming out peacefully on election day to elect credible House of Assembly members across party lines, most especially candidates of the ADC in Kogi State to attract more development across the state.
