An aspirant to the Kogi State House of Assembly from Kabba-Bunu state constituency on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Hon. John Olusegun Oniwaye, has challenged the party and stakeholders from the  zone to honour the age long rotational arrangement for the area.
Oniwaye, the lone aspirant from the Bunu district of the constituency, urged the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello not to tinker with the rotation for the spirit of peace, unity and brotherhood.
He appealed to the leadership of APC and the stakeholders from Kabba-Bunu local government area not to jettison the gentleman agreement for rotation for the interest of an individual who wants to be returned for the second term.
The Assembly aspirant disclosed that in the last dispensation, the incumbent member of the House, Hon. Ojo Nathaniel  Taiwo from Bunu district had everything working for him to be returned but the stakeholders impressed on him to drop his ambition for the sake of the rotational arrangement.
The student union leader turned politician noted that despite Taiwo being from Bunu, the people of Bunu District overwhelming voted against him to keep the rotational arrangement saying Kabba people has a moral burden  to support his candidature from the Bunu district.
Against the backdrop of insinuations that the governor Yahaya Bello has an anointed aspirant, Oniwaye said he has  refused to believe the story saying the governor has repeatedly denied the insinuations.
He appealed to the governor, who he called man of conscience and integrity, to honour his words by making a categorical statement to douse the tension.
While being optimistic of winning the election, no matter the opposition, Oniwaye said he is like the proverbial David and Goliath who is destined to win the forthcoming Assembly election.
He said he has neither bags of money or gladiators of godfathers like his opponent, but noted that his antecedents as a philanthropist even when he has nothing as a student will surely give him an edge over his opponent who has been oppressing the people with underdevelopment.
Oniwaye, a graduate of Religion and Philosophy with a masters degree in Public Administration, is barely 30 years old. He urged the leadership not keep empowering those aspirants who were already empowered as they will later turn against them.
“I am asking the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello not to empower those who were already empowered. They will create harm rather than good in the forthcoming 2019 general elections. The Governor should support youth and groom those who are ready to work with him, because the teeth he has sharpened will bite him.
“The Governor knows and respect rotation and as a leader of the party who want the party to wax strong, he should not give automatic ticket to any aspirant no matter his status. I believed him that he will not deny his words,” he said.
