Your Excellency Sir, it is with a great concern and of utmost necessity that I write this piece for your quick intervention as the Chief servant and Chief Security Officer of our dear state.

Let me first of all commend your administration for being responsive and for positively impacting on the lives of our people as evident through several welfare programmes and policies as well as other infrastructural development. I personally give you kudos for your achievements in the past one and a half year.

It is a known that protection of lives and property remains one of the responsibilities of any government at whatever level, which is why any government wishing to make its mark would not toy with security generally. It is on this note that your administration, to the best of my knowledge, is trying its best to overhaul the security architecture in order to meet up with the dynamics in security.

I am aware too that security agencies in Kogi State are collaborating in order to overcome crimes and criminalities which includes kidnapping, armed robbery, Yahoo Yahoo, etc. Yet, such efforts can only be recognized when there is drastic reduction in crimes. The efforts of the joint security action recently in Kogi West where criminals were traced to their hideouts is quite acknowledged.

Your Excellency Sir, for quite some time now, Kogi East has become a hot spot for kidnappers, even in the recent time, kidnapping for ransom of our people and innocent travelers especially along Ajaokuta-Itobe road, Ogbabo Junction- Abocho-Ajekalaga road, Itobe-Anyigba road, Anyigba-Ankpa road, Ejule- Okpo road and along some roads within Ofu local government just to mention but a few. Indeed, in some cases, people are taken from their farms by unknown gun men only to be released after payment of ransom.

The impulse of these ugly development is best imagined which as a result of this wickedness, people leaving in other cities can no longer come home and consequently have to avoid their planned programmes for fear of being a victim.

Your Excellency Sir, because of the incessant attacks by these criminal elements in some areas mentioned, the House of Assembly member representing Biraidu/Dekina constituency, Hon. Usman Ochidi had raised a motion of urgent public importance on the floor of the house as a matter of significance.

Our dear chief servant, I believe in your leadership and I believe in your capacity to bring this ugly situation that have make the people to leave under perpetual fear to an end, just like you did in Omala when issue of farmers headers clash was at its peak, and you established a military base in the area.

It is therefore, suggestive that more of such military base be established in Kogi East, with the putting in place of more check points that will run effectively for 24 hours at flash points.

Your Excellency, I will equally use this opportunity to make a special request for the overhauling of the State owned Vigilante service, particularly in my community, Abocho in Biraidu District. Such attention should be seen through the provision of a serviceable or operational vehicle that will make their work more effective, as it it evident that the lack of logistics is hampering their operations which doesn’t augur well in view of the crimes being reported in the area as well.

While also acknowledging the contributions of Kogi East Neighbourhood Watch (KENW) in the Area and that of His Royal Highness, Chief Jonah Idris Okai, the Onu Abocho and paramount ruler of Biraidu, it is essential to note that such contributions can only be more visible when and where government does the needful as requested.

On this note, Your Excellency, with all these done, your administration will continue to earn the respect of our people, as the State Security Adviser is expected to act promptly on this letter.

Thanks in anticipation of your swift intervention in Kogi East.

God bless Kogi East, God bless Kogi State, God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Signed:
Engr. Sunday E. Anaja, MNSE
