The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has congratulated Dr Hassan Abdulrahman Ocholi on his appointment as the North Central representative on the Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

Akume conveyed the congratulatory message on Friday in Abuja when Ocholi paid him a courtesy visit following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The SGF expressed confidence in Ocholi’s ability to contribute to the work of the board and encouraged him to deploy his experience towards supporting the Federal Government’s agenda for the transformation of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

President Tinubu approved Ocholi’s appointment on July 3, 2026, as the representative of the North Central geopolitical zone. His appointment has since been formally reflected on TETFund’s official Board of Trustees page, which identifies him as the board member representing North Central.

The TETFund Board is responsible for strategic oversight of the Fund and plays a major role in the management and disbursement of education tax to public tertiary institutions.

According to TETFund, its interventions support physical infrastructure, institutional materials and equipment, research and publications, academic staff training and other critical needs of beneficiary institutions.

Akume’s charge and congratulatory message come as TETFund continues the implementation of its 2026 intervention programme, which the Fund says is aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s tertiary education system.
