Govt Set To Declare Agbadu Community in Kabba an Agricultural Industrial and Processing Zone

The Kogi State Government says it has given the approval for the survey of land, that will lead to the gazetting and declaring of the Agbadu Community in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of the State as an Agricultural Industrial and
Processing Zone.

Capt. Idris Wada, the Kogi State Governor stated this when he received a delegation from Department for International Development (DFID) officials led by Mr. Tony Egba, an Agric Engineer from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

Very soon the laws towards making the area an Agric Processing Zone, the Governor explained would be enacted and sent to the State Assembly.

Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, Government he noted is looking into the Idea of buying Earth moving equipment to reduce the cost of land clearing for farmers.

The Government assured the Community where the Processing Zone will be located of adequate attention, promised that Government will not shy away from its responsibilities in providing necessary infrastructures.

The Governor described Kogi State as investor friendly, assured that the issues of water, erosion, clearing of pebbles and stones as raised by the team will be looked into.

Wada, commended the painstaking efforts of the Federal Government and the Ministry of Agriculture in the Kogi State Cassava value chain initiative.

In their separate speeches, Tony Egbe, from Federal Ministry of Agriculture, James Shepherd, Ade David and Peter Charles described Kogi State as a haven for Cassava if the prospects can be well harnessed towards the Cassava transformation initiative of the nation.

They called for the gazetting, documentation and passage into the law of the Agbadu Community as an Agriculture Industrial Processing Zone to enable for sustainability of the programme.

According to the team leader, through feasibility study, the area has the capacity to produce 25 tones per hectare of Cassava in view of the good nature of the soil.

In his speech, Dr. Femi Abolarin, Commissioner of Agriculture, said the team was in the State for further evaluation of Kogi State and the starch project located at Agbadu in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area of the State.
