The Administrator of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Hon. Moses Olorunleke has reiterated the state governor’s continuous commitment towards securing the lives and properties of the people.
He said this on Wednesday while presenting food items, on behalf of the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to the operational base of Nigeria Army currently on exercise ‘Ayem Apatuma’ at Odo Ape, a community in Kabba-Bunu LGA.
Ayem Akpatuma, a military exercise flagged off by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai on February 20th, is designed to curb the incidents of farmers/herdsmen clashes and to help familiarise the troops to the challenges of internal security.  This is jointly being conducted with other security agencies, especially the police, DSS and other paramilitary organizations.
Governor Bello was one of the dignitaries in attendance at the flag-off as the exercise covers Benue and other neighbouring states including Kogi.
The Administrator took out time to specially request that other parts of the local government enjoy the military presence before the end of the operation.
“Although, Kogi State is much safer than it ever was because of the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello to issues of security, we cannot take anything for granted.
“So, the presence of the military in our community is a welcome development and we welcome them. That is why I am here to donate this token on behalf of my leader, the Governor.
“I also wish to appeal to the military commander here to extend this exercise to other areas of the LGA where we need security cover. I am certain that by the end of this exercise, our domain would be far safer,” he said.
In his reaction, the commander of the operation, Major U.S. Agbo, appreciated the government’s effort and requested that efforts should be made by the public through providing actionable intelligence on security threats as this is very essential for a successful operation.
He promised that no part of the local government will be left unattended to before the end of operation.
Bags of rice, tubers of yam, a cow and cash were presented in support of their tireless effort towards making the local a safe place.
Present at the visitation were Hon. Jagun Olakunle, SSA Security and Intelligence, top local government management staffs, including the Director and Treasurer of the local government, as well as local government political appointees.
