A suspected kidnapper has been picked up at the Kogi-Enugu border. Operatives of the Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS) arrested Muhammad Babuga, 24, on Thursday evening in Igabada, a boundary town between the two states.
The Igalamela Command of the KSVS made the arrest at about 1900 hours on 8 October 2026, acting on credible information.
Confirming the development in an official statement released on Friday in Lokoja, the Public Relations Officer of the KSVS, Idris S. Idris, revealed that the suspect confessed to being an active member of a syndicate terrorizing travelers and residents across the region.

A victim of the gang, who was released after a ransom was paid, also identified him as one of the criminals.
Reacting to the successful sting operation, the Comptroller-General of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, Alh. Ibrahim Usman Anataku, lauded the Igalamela officers for their bravery, dedication, and result-oriented approach to tactical security management, urging them to maintain the momentum to rid the state of criminal elements.
Alh. Anataku also expressed profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, praising his unwavering logistical support and commitment to boosting operational efficiency across the state’s local security apparatus.
While reiterating the command’s resolve to dismantle all criminal networks operating within the axis, the Comptroller-General appealed to members of the general public to remain vigilant and continuously support security agencies with timely, credible information to aid proactive crime prevention.
