Kogi State executive members of All Progressive Congress, APC, has condemned the ongoing recall process of the Senator representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye, describing it as dis-service to the state and the western senatorial district of the state.
The chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Hadi Ametuo stated this at a press conference in Abuja.
Ametuo explained that the person (s) behind the purported recall are instrumental to the loss of two senatorial seats, two House of Representatives seats and several House of Assembly seats to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to him, aside from their rules in collaborating with PDP, they were not involved in the success of APC in Kogi State as they were not registered members of the party during the election in kogi state. He described their actions as an act of sacrilege to attempt to recall a highly effective and performing senator like Dino Melaye.
Ametuo explained further that the contributions of Senator Dino Melaye to the formation of the party and his tireless efforts during the electioneering campaign which led to the party victory including the election of President Muhammadu Buhari is not only noticeable but extremely valuable.
He said that the western senatorial district of Kogi State and the state at large appreciate senator Dino Meleye, who emerged as the best senator of the year 2016, and his masses oriented bills and motions, recognising the fact that senator Melaye has the highest number of bills and Motions in the senate, amongst other immeasurable Federal presence he has attracted to his senatorial district within two years need commendations by all and sundry.
Alhaji Ametuo commended the calm, unassuming Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for his focused in handling of the affairs of the country, and pray for the speedy recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He equally appreciated the enormous support of the Senate President, and leader of All Progressive Congress in North Central, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki towards the realisation of success of the party in Kogi state and his focused leadership of the senate.
“We convey our unflinching support to Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) for his courage for standing against injustice, inhumanity and oppression. We stand by our party policies and Nigerian Constitution which provides that no person shall be subjected to torture, inhuman, or degrading treatment. Our dear Senator Dino Melaye, we salute your courage” he said.
The press conference was attended by local government party chairmen across the three senatorial districts of the state and the state executives and a host of others.
