The senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Ahmed Ogembe has appealed to politicians to assist the needy in the society, saying Nigerians are suffering.

He made the appeal to the news newsmen in Abuja to mark this year’s democracy day.
Ogembe, who decried the deplorable standard of living of an average Nigerian, called on those in the positions of authority to stand up to their responsibility as there is clear evidence that the people are running out of patience.
“Democracy is good and still the best, but the question we must sincerely ask is, how are our people fairing today?
“How much dividends of democracy we have been able to deliver?
“There is hunger in the land and people can’t access medical care, youths are jobless  and graduates keep turning out on daily basis.
“We must join hands together to take urgent steps in addressing these issues facing the citizens because by the time they revolt, it may be difficult to handle, it is crystal clear that they are running out of  patience now, “he added.
The senator said, “if the current trend of poverty continues like this in the country, then democracy could be seen as worthless since the whole essence is to give life a meaning for all citizens.
Ogembe urged government at all levels to urgently respond to the yearnings of the citizens and appealed to the well to do citizens to provide palliatives to fight poverty in the land.
He appealed to  government to make sure that they put the people first in all their welfare programmes.
The senator commended the people of his district for their patience and called on them to keep faith as their interest is key and their welfare is a priority as long as he remains their representative at the national assembly.
