A support group of the Kogi State Governor, Bello Support Organization has hailed the public service reforms in the state, saying it is a good beginning for the Governor is repositioning the state.

In a chat with newsmen in Lokoja, the Team Leader of BSO, Mrs. Rekiya Onayivo Sanni said the Governor is beginning to manifest the reason why Kogi people choose the party of change, the All Progressives Congress.

She said BSO frowns at the alarming rate of ghost workers in the state, calling it an “economic crime”.

“It takes courageous leadership to bell the cat of ghost workers in the state. The decision to rid our payrolls of fictitious names to save funds for development should be commended by all Kogi people irrespective of party appeals. We are first Kogites before party loyalties.

“We want the Governor to know that corruption will fight back but the downtrodden people of Kogi State are with the Governor on this issue. It is despicable for the roads in the state to be this bad and some people will be smiling to the banks as a result of fraudulent smuggling of fake names into the wage bill of the state”.

Hajia Sanni also hailed the Governor for his proactive steps in restoring a clean environment in Lokoja.

“People have suddenly forgotten how dirty the state capital was before the inauguration of our Governor. But today, we are gradually moving away from that notorious rating. The citizens are acting because the Governor has taken the lead.

“Today, we have a cleaner Lokoja. Today, work is ongoing on our roads. Today, Lokoja is gradually wearing a new look. We urge all Kogi people to keep supporting the change agenda of Governor Yahaya Bello”.

In a related development, Governor Yahaya Bello has pledged his support to the staff verification exercise in the state, saying the exercise was aimed at ascertaining the actual number of civil servants in the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, Tuesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo urged the general public to discountenance insinuations that the exercise was a witch-hunt.

He said the exercise which is already yielding interesting results will help the state save resources for massive infrastructural development and human empowerment, assuring the committee of continued support and solidarity to make the exercise achieve set goals.
