Deputy governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November election in Kogi state, Dr Omede Idris has assured residents of Ibaji local government area of the state of the party’s commitment to mitigating effects of annaul floods that ravages the area.
He said if elected, the Leke Abejide-led administration will put in place proactive control mechanisms, implement short, mid and long term measures to effectively address the perennial challenge.
Omede gave the assurance during a courtesy call on traditional rulers in Idah on Monday.
According to Dr. Idris Omede, Ibaji people occupies strategic position in the state and such deserves a better place in the scheme of things.
He added that “under our administration, the state will tackle all flood ravaging areas in the state through conscious responsiveness to all the identified places affected in the state.
The former Commissioner for Health lamented that the state has suffered unduly despite the resources coming from the federation specially meant for that purpose yet the areas have been allowed to wallow in suffering associated with the flooding annually.
The Deputy Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress called on the people of the state to to do a background check on all the those aspiring to lead the state in the forthcoming election so that the state would not fall into the wrong hands and continue in self inflicted pains.
He emphasised that Kogi is one of the states that deserves better living standards enlistment as an oil producing state in country.
Speaking at the occasion, the state chairman of the ADC in the state, Hon John Adaji, assured the people that his party programmes has human face and would implement programmes that every sector of the economy would be affected positively.
He said the party can only implement its manifestoes when it elected into office by the electorate.
