The Executive Director of Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Comrade Idris Miliki Abdul, has called on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to spend more time in Kogi state and address the numerous security challenges across the state.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday, Miliki said the Governor should not be beclouded by the accolades for prompt payment of salaries, but concentrate on all strata of the state that needs his attention.

“Was the governor elected by the workers for the workers? What is the the percentage of the Kogi State workers?,” he asked.

He commended Governor Ododo on his consistent payment of full salaries to all categories of workers in state, however, called on him to be more transparent about the state’s finances.

“How much is the statutory allocation of Kogi State in the last one year? Where are the projects started and completed in the last one year? How many people have been employed in different sectors in the the state, what is the infrastructure situation of the education sector in the state, particularly the basic education? How many houses have been built in the state in the last one year, despite the creation of the ministry of housing?

“In the transport sector nothing have been done or injected by state government in the last one year. The citizens of Kogi state should not blind folded due to prompt payment of salaries of workers. The prompt payment of salary is commendable, compared to the immediate past government that is notorious for not paying salary as when due. We must know that payment of salaries should be a yardstick for performance of any government. As payment of salaries is a right of workers,” he added.
