Eight days after his abduction along Obajana-Kabba road in Kogi state, an Islamic cleric, Alfa Ola Fasasi Mejabi, has been released by the kidnappers.
The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the Chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, for burial on October 9 when they ran into the kidnappers.
Confirming the release, National President of Ayegunle Gbede Development Union (AGDU), Ahmed-Ade Fatai, said the cleric has been united with his family.
“We thank God almighty for his mercy towards us. Those in captivity have been successfully released. We thank you all for your fervent prayers, call and kind gestures towards the huddles within a week,” he said.
He, however, did not disclose if ransom was paid before the cleric and his brother were released by their abductors.
