Commissioner for Local Govt Embarks on Familiarisation Tour to Kogi Traditional Rulers

After a successful maiden meeting with the staff and management of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Momodu Salami Ozigi (Deedat) has demonstrated his desire to consolidate on the gains of the previous administration by embarking on familiarisation tour on traditional rulers in the state.

The visit was also to acquaint the revered traditional rulers of the Commissioner’s planned programme of action during his reign as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The first port of call was the palace of the President, Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers and  Atta Igala, HRM Dr. Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II who joyously received the Honourable Commissioner and his entourage that comprised all the 21 Local Government Administrators.

The train also paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty, the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, Dr Ado Ibrahim who is also the Vice Chairman, Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers  in his Azad Palace Okene.

The honourable commissioner while speaking at the Palace of the duo appreciated the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers for their patriotic support extended to Governor Yahaya Bello’s New Direction administration from its inception on 27th of January, 2016.

He further assured that the Kogi State Council of Traditional Rulers will continue to enjoy maximum support, respect and cooperation from the government in anticipation for their continuous support aimed at bringing to realization the New Direction Blueprints for the ministry and other ministries of the government.

“My coming on board is centered mainly on sustaining and consolidating on my predecessors’ achievements and laying of new legacies by the special grace of Allah. My boss and I understands the role and importance of the traditional institutions and shall ensure that my office respects, support and cooperate with the rulers aright to get their best in our pursuit for the sustainance and consolidation of the peace we enjoy. Therefore, I beseech your supports and royal blessings,” he said.

He felicitated with the Ohinoyi of Ebira land as he turns 91 years on Friday, February 7.

The two revered traditional rulers, in their separate remarks, congratulated Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello on his recent electoral victory, and at the same time lauded the appointment of Barr Ozigi as the Commissioner for Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs while assuring him of absolute support and cooperation.

The tour continues with a scheduled visit to the Obaro of Kabba on Friday.
