The Ankpa Federal Constituency’s All Progressives Congress’ (APC) House of Representatives candidate in the 2019 general election, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim (Halims) is too decent to be involved in rituality, the constituents said.
The arrest and incarceration of the Halims, according to his people who came out in droves to receive the former Kogi State House of Assembly Member on Saturday in Ankpa, was mischievous and politically motivated.
The APC candidate was allowed to walk home freely to enable him to prepare for the 2019 elections by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on grounds that the allegations against him were ordinarily bailable, and has also met all the conditions for bail.
Halims, like the triumphant entry of Jesus to Jerusalem, was welcomed by a tumultuous crowd of the people who rolled out drums in celebration to receive him from Abuja amidst pomp and circumstance at the palace of the paramount ruler of Ankpa.
The paramount ruler of Ankpa, His Royal Highness, the Onu Ankpa, who spoke on behalf of the people likened Halims’ ordeal to those of the Biblical Joseph and Nelson Mandela of South Africa who went through similar situations in their various resolves to stand for their people.
He said Mandela was in prison for 27 years just because he asked and fought for the freedom of the people of South Africa and still came out and ruled the country as president.
“What our own son has passed through is a test from Almighty Allah; we should know that after every trying moment, there is relief,” the Onu preached.
In his response, Halims who expressed happiness over the love shown to him by his people, described his alleged involvement in ritual killing as “made up” to soil his towering political image, adding that the reception was a clear testimony by the people that he could not have been involved in any unholy act.
The APC House of Representatives hopeful who swore by the Quran in line with Islamic tradition to further prove his innocence before his people rained curses on the political “desperadoes” who induced the criminals that roped him into the alleged ritual killing saga.
“I swear by the Holy Quran that if I’m involved in killing and buying of human parts for money ritual, Allah who sees everyone will punish me accordingly. And those who used the criminals to implicate me will never know peace,” Halims said.
He thanked the paramount ruler and his subjects for standing by him throughout the trying period, and promised to reciprocate the love shown to him by the people by continuing to carryout his humanitarian services in the Federal Constituency.
