Kogi Monthly Environmental Sanitation Day Begins Next Saturday, 25th Oct

People of Kogi State have been advised to take the forthcoming State Environmental Sanitation day exercise beginning on Saturday with all the seriousness it deserves, as Government will not spare anyone found wanting or contravening the sanitation exercise.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, who also doubles as the Chairman State Sanitation Committee, made this known on the State Government’s ongoing efforts at sensitizing its citizens and residents on the importance Government attaches to the exercise.

The Deputy Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tayo Aremu, in a press briefing, said the commitment of Government to the cleanliness of the State remains total.

Awoniyi, explained that the exercise which begins at 7.00am to 10.00am on Saturday, will have human and vehicular movement restricted.

Mobile courts he added have been constituted to try violator’s, and offenders of the sanitation exercise, warned people to adhere to the instruction to keep their environment clean.

Awoniyi, maintained that a monitoring and evaluation Committee has been put in place to appraise the sanitation exercise, disclosed that the essence of the exercise aside the cleanliness and beautification it will give the State, will help improve the health condition of the people against diseases such as cholera, malaria and other diseases related to filthy environment.
