Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, has declared Kogi Local Government Area a no-go area for opposition parties.

He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) has effectively closed the area to other political parties.

Gegu made the declaration on Thursday at an enlarged meeting of APC stakeholders held in Koton Karfe. He said the decision followed the impact of the policies and projects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on the lives of the people in the area and across the state.

According to the Commissioner, the visible changes delivered by both administrations have made the efforts of the opposition a lost battle in Kogi LGA and the state at large. He urged APC stakeholders to ensure no vote is lost and expressed confidence that, aside from void votes, the area would deliver 100 percent for the APC in all elections.

“The APC, beginning with President Tinubu and Governor Ododo, will be presenting a star-studded team of credible candidates with a trajectory and profile of integrity and accomplishments,” Gegu said.

He described Kogi LGA and the state as “no-go areas” for opposition parties, insisting that all APC candidates were equipped to deliver on the Renewed Hope mandate of the party.

Gegu assured the people of Kogi LGA of more dividends of democracy than what has been witnessed in the past, adding that the future would be rewarding for the area. He described the progress recorded under the APC as unprecedented and promised more sustainable development from 2027.

The meeting featured the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for re-election, Hon. Sam Aro for Senate, Hon. Danladi Aguye for House of Representatives, and Dauda Aliyu and Umar Yakubu for the Kogi LGA State Constituencies in the House of Assembly.

In his welcome address, Ado Shaibu described the stakeholders’ meeting as timely and said it would help consolidate the gains of the APC in the area ahead of 2027. He congratulated the newly inaugurated LGA and ward executives.

The various speake from the eleven Wards of the Local Government all pledge their loyalty and support to the endorsed candidates, praised the Commissioner for making them proud in the administration of Gov Ododo, promised to double their efforts in delivering all the APC candidates as mentioned and endorsed.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Shaibu Shattu, Ado Shaibu, Musa Tanko, Osune Tatu, Maikudi Aliyu, Abu Sule Abdulmalik, and other party leaders and stakeholders from across Kogi LGA.
