The National Prosperity Movement (NPM) has assured Nigerians that the group will search for and support a credible aspirant that will fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023.

The Kogi State Coordinator of NPM, Dr Abutalib Major Musa gave the assurance while inaugurating local government coordinators of the movement in Lokoja on Saturday.

Dr. Abutalib stated that democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and urged Nigerians to elect competent politicians with vision that will ensure good governance for the country.

He noted that NPM has a solid structure cutting across the 36 states and FCT and each chapters has been saddled with the responsibility of searching for a credible politician that will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

“What can change Nigeria for good is an effective political leadership at the highest level, one that has the competence, experience, knowledge, and can perform to lead a 21st century economy.

“Beyond competence, the leader also must have a compassionate heart, so that through his conduct and moral example, he can be a force for good. In other words, the country needs a leader that is fair and equitable, who will not promote one group or religion ahead of others.

“The NPM hopes to birth an effective and visionary political leadership in 2023,” he said.

Dr. Abutalib assured that an NPM-installed government will ensure security of lives and property, work towards economic growth and prosperity, ensure fairness and equity, guarantee employment and productivity, bridge infrastructural gap, kick-start a robust agriculture revolution and food sufficiency and ensure youth inclusion and engagement.

“An NPM-installed government will embark on a total overhaul of the security architecture of Nigeria, making changes and investment in security that will lead to the comprehensive defeat of the Boko Haram group, kidnapping-for-ransom, and other violent crimes.

“Our country has always been poor. But in the ’60s, just after the independence, there were high hopes that Nigeria would be one of the emerging economic giants because of our large population and huge deposit of natural resources. Unfortunately, we have frittered away those opportunities over the years, and our country is now one of the poorest in the world.

“Since our problems are man-made, they can be fixed with the right economic solutions and ideas, faithfully implemented over time. Working with the right mix of experts, we can turn the corner, and gradually start making the kind of economic progress that will see us join the elite nation club.

“There is much division in the country, mainly caused by mutual suspicion by the different ethnic groups. These differences sometimes have been exploited by political leaders to feather their nests. Our candidate and hopefully the NPM -produced President shall be a person of a high moral conduct, with a pan-Nigerian vision and is fair, just and committed to treating all Nigerians equally, regardless of their ethnicity or religion,” he explained.

The coordinators of NPM in all 21 local government areas of Kogi state were charged to hit the ground running by mobilizing APC members to join the group and prepare to win the next presidential primaries and election.
