Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has postponed the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed Industrial Park in the state earlier scheduled to hold today, Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

The decision to put off the event became necessary after the governor observed that some important technical details that have a significant bearing on the outcome of the project are yet to be properly harmonised.

The Governor who made this development known in a message through his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, said it is in the interest of Kogi State and its people that due process is followed, and a thorough job is done.

The industrial park comprising manufacturing plants, warehouses, recreational areas and green zones, administrative buildings, staff quarters among others, is being executed by the ChinaRoads Construction, Designs and Consultancy Company, a Chinese investment firm.

Citing the strategic importance of the mega industrial park which is expected to create over 100,000 jobs, the governor said “the significance of this bold project and its expected impact on economic development in the state and even beyond is the more reason we must dot all i’s, cross all t’s and get it right.”

Postponing the ceremony until further notice, Bello reassured citizens of the state, declaring that “due process must be followed to the letter, so as to ensure that when the park eventually comes onstream, it will live up to expectation and make Kogi State an emerging economic hub in the country.”

The governor expressed his deep regrets for any inconvenience caused, appealing for understanding, and restating his administration’s commitment to its New Direction mantra.
