A National Youth Service Corps member in Kogi State, Kabir Abdulkadir, on Wednesday donated various educational materials worth over N400,000 to Ajayi Crowther Memorial College, Lokoja.
Abdulkadir, who is currently serving with the Lokoja branch of First bank Plc, explained that the gesture was in furtherance of his community service project.
He added that he was inspired to donate the items by a desire to assist indigent students in public schools in the state.
A survey showed that several students from poor families had to hawk to complement the efforts of their parents to meet their educational needs, Abdulkadir said, expressing hope that the materials would assist the indigent students.
He commended the principal and other management staff of the school for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the educational development of the students.
The Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Abdulmumini Rafindadi, who was the chairman of the occasion, applauded the corps member for contributing to the development of his host community.
