Social Democratic Party (SDP) aspirant, Hon. Femi Iselaiye and Dada Oluwaseyi have submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms at the party secretariat in Lokoja.
Iselaiye is aspiring to represent Yagba Federal constituency in the House of Representatives while Dada is in the race to represent Yagba West state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
Briefing newsmen at the party secretariat on Wednesday, the aspirants pledged to offer quality representation based on accountability, probity and transparency.
The duo stated that they possess the requisite repertoire of character, integrity, resourcefulness, candor and political will required to bring dividends of democracy to the people.
Dada informed the newsmen that SDP stakeholders in Kogi state have opted for direct primaries to conduct
elections for emergence of candidates to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming 2019 general election.
According to him, it is democratic and commendable.
Iselaiye, in agreement with the party, said direct primaries will provide a level playing ground and ensure participatory democracy in the party.
Receiving the forms, the SDP State Public Relation Officer advised the aspirants from Yagba land to provide quality leadership when elected.
He also advised Ward and LG Executives to be equitable and even-handed in their relation with all aspirants.
This, he said, will give a level playing ground for every aspirants, encourage neutrality and bring confidence to the electoral process.
The party spokesman charged SDP members to work tirelessly and meticulously to make party win the upcoming general elections.
