The crisis in Kogi State is not one of dwindling allocation, human capital, morale, land or resources.

The real crisis is rather one of leadership, management and childish egotism of our governor. This kind of crisis is inevitable when desperate lust for power and childish display of strength prevails over granting people the love and care the deserve.

Since he took over the leadership of Kogi state, Bello has being doing more of talking and arrogant display of power, instead of paying salaries and better the lots of his subjects. No single physical development nor sign of any ongoing  project, but he can muscle strength to silence Kogites with constructive criticism.

Today you hear of 10 thousands ghost workers detected in COE, tomorrow you hear another 5 thousands ghost teachers and next tomorrow 3 thousand ghost schools, the following day N2billion fraud detected just by mere visit, Haba! Talk talk talk or do I hear someone saying lie lie lie no action.

Credibility of leadership can only be established through action and not words. I am referring here to the kind of action that distinguishes a governor who considers the civil servants foremost asset, and not one who looks at them as a burden. Bello should know there is a world of difference between a leadership that is based on love and respect, and one that is based on fear and threat. Failure in leadership makes a governor to adopt threatening his subjects to secure their loyalty because ordinarily he is afraid of them. HIS FAILURE HUNT HIM!

Bello ruling the state as if managing the allocation from the federal government within the context of monthly wage bill will do the magic. Hmmmm, what a confused opportunist.

When you face a challenge that demands a solution, you have two choices – you can either emulate the example set by others or use your own creativity and intelligence to formulate a new idea. If our governor and his team lack the mental capability to generate revenue internally by turning the civil servants he planned to sack into assets through creativity, why can’t he borrow Fashola style to move the state forward instead of turning everybody to enemy in this his confused state of mind.

We are aware of the enormity of our challenges and changes to achieve them, but we are also aware of our huge potential in all areas of life. If our governor focused only on retaliation and reducing the workforce, be it recent employment or not, then he will fail. We do not want this to happen – we have already suffered greatly from being idle for so long.

I believe we have to start quickly the process of harnessing the potential in our youths by using them to develop our state and stop viewing civil service as a relaxation centre from whence you collect monthly pay for doing nothing. We are living in an age where there is no room for hesitation. Start now the process of development through the various human and natural resources around  you Mr. Governor and stop harassing people with police and security apparatus. Those telling you there is time to focus on rivals are sycophants and your greatest enemies.

Over bloated workforce and other challenges Kogi state government is presenting daily as an excuse shouldn’t be frightening when a leader is confidence of himself and his people. On the contrary, challenges such as these promote resolve and determination, and generate creativity. Overcoming the challenges in the race for excellence is the secret of success; failing to do so and finding a cheap way out is the reason behind failure.

Mr. Governor Sir, The choice is yours!
