The embattled Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bello has reportedly rejected the impeachment saying Tuesday’s sitting is illegal.

The House has been on recess for while and have fixed Thursday, 18th October, 2012 as resumption date.

Hon. Bello had said there is no cause for alarm as he remains the legal and constitutionally recognised speaker of the Kogi state house of assembly.

Bello, while speaking to reporters a short while ago said the purported impeachment against him and his colleagues cannot stand the test of time because it was an aberration to the constitution of Nigeria.

“The leadership of the House is intact and will seat at the House of Assembly complex on Thursday when the law makers are scheduled to resume from their recess”, he said.

The Speaker has been having a running battle with some lawmakers who had been plotting to remove him from office. It is believed that the anti-speaker lawmakers are doing the bidding of the state governor, Idris Wada.
