In a bid to boost education infrastructure and stimulate local economic growth, the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District, Isah Jibrin, popularly known as Echocho, has officially handed over newly constructed and renovated educational facilities alongside completed commercial lock-up shops to several host communities across the district.
The latest wave of developmental interventions cuts across multiple Local Government Areas in Kogi East, targeting both academic advancement and grassroots economic empowerment. Among the educational infrastructure handed over are newly completed blocks of six classrooms at Okenyi in Ankpa Local Government Area, Imane Grammar School in Olamaboro Local Government Area, Government Science Secondary School in Alloma, Ofu Local Government Area, and Government Science Secondary School in Bassa Local Government Area.
In addition to the academic upgrades, Senator Jibrin also commissioned and presented sets of completed lock-up shops to residents at Ojokwu in Ankpa Local Government Area and Ugbamaka-Iga in Olamaboro Local Government Area. The commercial structures are designed to provide structured modern spaces for small businesses, micro-entrepreneurs, and community-based traders to thrive.
The interventions are expected to significantly ease classroom overcrowding, foster a more conducive learning atmosphere for students in the beneficiary schools, and spur local commercial activities across the rural economies of the district.
Reacting to the development, community leaders, trade representatives, and political stalwarts across the beneficiary towns commended the lawmaker for his sustained focus on human capital development and infrastructure. They acknowledged the direct social and economic impact of the projects, noting that the enhanced school facilities and trading spaces address critical, long-standing needs within their respective localities.
