Otunba Adeniyi Olayemi, also known as So’Mi Edumare, has extended warm birthday felicitations to the Sardauna of Gegu Beki, Madugu of Girinyan, and Chiroma of Iraki, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources in Kogi State, describing him as a distinguished technocrat and quintessential leader.
In a statement issued on behalf of his family and political associates on Friday, Otunba Olayemi praised the Commissioner’s contributions to the development of Kogi State and his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the policy framework associated with the current federal administration.
According to the statement, Gegu has demonstrated passion, selflessness, dedication, and vision in the discharge of his duties, qualities Otunba Olayemi described as exemplary within the state’s political and administrative circles.

“You are a passionate, selfless, dedicated, and visionary leader whose sterling contributions to the development of Kogi State and unflinching commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda are exemplary and commendable,” Olayemi stated.
He noted that his efforts has brought reasonable sanity to the extractive sector in the state.
Recalling the Commissioner’s constituent moves to monitor the activities of mining companies in the state to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, Otunba Olayemi said Engr. Gegu’s dedication has began to yield positive dividends as more legal operators are now showing interest in the state’s mineral deposits.
He said aside being instrumental to the recent acquisition of additional mining licenses by the state government, the Commissioner’s advocacy for local content in the mining sector will empower citizens of the state in no small measure.
So’Mi Edumare also applauded the Commissioner’s prompt intervention to clean up operations in mining sites, especially in Ankpa coal mines. He hailed Engr. Gegu’s tireless and proactive approach to the solid minerals sector.
He described Engr. Bashir Gegu as an easy-going politician whose loyalty has never been in doubt, a trait that has continued to distinguish him.
