Senator representing Kogi East at the National Assembly, Atai Aidoko Ali has called for a special status for widows to ensure they do experience depression after the demise of their better half.

Aidoko said the special status will help widows enhance their wellbeing.

The Federal lawmaker made the call during the Kogi East widows’ day exhibition and launching at Idah township stadium.

Senator Aidoko decried the mere policy statement of government at the state and federal levels that also trickle down to corporate and individual level. He said widows need special and frequent attention from stakeholders in the society.

He stated that he was encouraged by the level of awareness, initiatives and orientation of Kogi East widows who are not weighed down by their current status, but held their destinies in their hands to better the lives of their dependents.

Senator Aidoko made a case on urgent need to rehabilitate and sustain widows from the area through job creation, skill development, capacity building and empowerment so as to make them live healthy lives.

He assured the Kogi East widows of adequate consideration from his office in the area of welfare, economic and commercial initiatives so as to keep them afloat and guarantee a better life for them and their children.

He urged them to summon courage, in spite of the challenges surrounding their subsistence after the demise of their breadwinner, saying their situation will attract special leverage from the creator in all their endeavours.

Kogi east senator thanked the widows for finding him worthy to grace the occasion, adding that he will always be available to render more support towards the upliftment of their goals.
