Worried by the low level of development in Kogi State, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress(APC) and gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Rotimi Obadofin, has described the state as “failed state,” 23 years after the creation.

Obadofin, who disclosed this in chat with journalists yesterday at his country home in Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government area of Kogi State, stated that something is wrong somewhere.

He explained that all the indices of development are not found in Kogi State after 23 years when compared with other states created together the same year.

“As matter of fact, Kogi is a failed state and what we have today is that there is no governance in the state. All the indices to show that we have governance are not there. We have no governance in Kogi, what that means is that nothing is happening,” he stated.

The governorship aspirant who decried the poor state of infrastructure particularly roads, argued that the roads are not motorable and stated that nothing is working in the state.

Obadofin also lamented the rising tide of crime in the state, adding that Governor Idris Wada has not done much in this regard as there have been increase in the rate of armed robbery incidence and other criminal activities in the state.

The APC chieftain who went down memory lane pointed out that Kogi was created along with Osun and other states the same time, stressing that Osun State is progressively moving forward in terms of infrastructural development.

“In Osun State, education is free at the expense of the state government. The government pays for WAEC, NECO for all SSSCE students, provides text books for and pupils in primary 1- 4. In Osun, you can sleep with your eyes closed. Crime rate is very low. There is no part in Osun State where construction is not going on now,” he stressed.

He posited that All Progressive Congress is poised to capture Kogi State and take it to greater height.
