Since the return to democratic governance in 1999, the Yagba Federal Constituency has witnessed a political journey marked by rotation among its three constituent Local Government Areas (LGAs)—but with one glaring exception. Mopamuro LGA, despite its vital role and contributions, has been represented only once in the House of Representatives, while the other two LGAs have enjoyed repeated terms. This historical imbalance calls for urgent correction. As we approach the 2027 general elections, it is imperative that the All Progressives Congress (APC) embrace the principle of equity and fairness by endorsing a strong, viable candidate from Mopamuro LGA.
The incumbent representative, Leke Abejide of Yagba East, currently serving his second term under the opposition party banner, exemplifies why this transition is not merely desirable but essential. His tenure has been marred by unpopularity within Mopamuro—a fact underscored by his repeated failures to secure votes from Mopamuro during previous elections. This persistent local rejection signals a critical disconnect between his representation and the aspirations of Mopamuro’s people. Continuing with Leke Abejide as the APC flagbearer will not only perpetuate this alienation but also jeopardize the APC’s chances of reclaiming the House seat from the opposition.

For years, the ruling party has faced electoral setbacks in Yagba Federal Constituency’s House of Representatives race. However, the tides are changing. With notable achievements by both the federal and state governments—efforts that have transformed the socio-economic landscape of the constituency—the time is ripe for the APC to consolidate gains by fielding a candidate who embodies unity, progress, and inclusiveness. A Mopamuro candidate is uniquely positioned to galvanize support across the constituency, bridging divides and inspiring renewed confidence in the ruling party’s capacity to deliver.
Moreover, the principle of rotational equity is not just a matter of political convenience—it is fundamental to sustaining democracy and ensuring that all voices within Yagba Federal Constituency are respected and heard. The current lopsided representation breeds resentment and alienation; it risks disenfranchising entire communities. By selecting a Mopamuro candidate, the APC sends a powerful message affirming that governance is inclusive, fair, and responsive to grassroots demands.
It is important to underscore that this advocacy is not about sidelining individuals but about strategic vision and collective interest. Stakeholders at federal and state levels—including the APC’s chapters and, critically, the Governor—must recognize that success in 2027 hinges on embracing candidates reflective of the constituency’s diverse demographic realities. Prioritizing Mopamuro’s candidacy will strengthen party cohesion, energize volunteers, and tilt the electoral balance decisively in APC’s favor.
Furthermore, the experiences of the common people of Yagba West and Mopamuro speak volumes. Their unequivocal resolve to oppose any continuation of Leke Abejide’s candidature underlines a potent political reality: ignoring this groundswell risks alienating key voter blocs and handing victory to the opposition yet again. The ruling party cannot afford to ignore these sentiments if it is committed to meaningful governance and sustainable political dominance.
In conclusion, the call to action is clear and compelling: the APC must recalibrate its strategy in Yagba Federal Constituency by championing a worthy candidate from Mopamuro LGA in the forthcoming 2027 elections. This is a historic opportunity to correct longstanding imbalances, harness the momentum of governmental achievements, and deliver leadership that resonates authentically with all constituents. Let us collectively endorse equity, foster unity, and secure a triumphant future for Yagba Federal Constituency through a Mopamuro candidate who embodies the spirit of progress and fairness. The people demand it, history mandates it, and the future depends on it.
