Kogi Speaker never sponsored thugs.
Our attention has been drawn to some online reports that the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Prince Matthew Kolawole sponsored thugs to disrupt last Saturday’s poll which was largely adjudged to be fair, free, credible and peaceful in Kabba/Bunu by both local and international observers who monitored the elections.
We would not have bothered ourselves to respond to the malicious and satanic write up orchestrated by some individuals who are not comfortable with his rising political profile and are committed to tarnish the good reputation he has built over the years as a Godly man that is known to be promoting peace anywhere he finds himself.
We find it strange and barbaric for any individual or group to ascribe an isolated case in a distant community from where the Speaker is voting to a man that is generally known to be humble and peaceful that have zero tolerance to hooliganism, thuggery and bad behavior.
As a legislator who respects the rule of law and have great respect for the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari to shoot at sight any element that may want to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections; Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole will never stoop so low to engage in such criminality.
We also want to put it on record that despite the Speaker’s believe in empowering the youths by giving out cars to some of them, he has never given a white golf car as all the cars must be crested with APC logo, President Muhammadu, Governor Yahaya Bello and his own pictures, before being presented to any beneficiaries.
It is also laughable for the writer from his own imagination to allege that the the Speaker is now appealing to the thugs to return his gun; where is the consistency in his concocted lies and fabrication? A thug that was shot and under the custody of the police, according to him, is the same one the Speaker is appealing to, to return the gun he never acquired in the first place.
We therefore call on the people and the reading public to disregard the malicious news orchestrated to discredit the person and office of the Speaker as his rising political profile is their nightmare.
We urge the electorate in Kabba/Bunu not to be deterred with the harassment and intimidation witnessed last Saturday and come out en masse on the 9th of March to cast their votes in favour of the APC for the State Assembly, as the result coming out as released by INEC in the just concluded Presidential and national assembly elections confirmed in both Kogi State and Nigeria that our great party APC is the dominant party in the country; Kabba/Bunu cannot risk being in opposition.
