In spite of the statement made by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the cancelled election, Professor Yusuf Obaje, has stated that he remains the party’s flag bearer in 3rd December, 2011 election.
The former Aso Rock argued that there is no law that says that if an election is postponed, the primary election won by contestants should be invalidated. He maintained that as far as governorship election is concerned, he remains the only candidate for ACN in Kogi State.
Obaje’s claim cannot be taken seriously given the antecedents of his party. The ACN is known for her own brand of selection of candidates. The presence of all the major stakeholder at the lokoja event where Prince Abubakar Audu declared for ACN goes along way to show who the party hierarchy prefers.
Speaking however, the former Secretary All Nigerian Peoples Party ANPP, who is now a chieftain of ACN, Elder Kennedy Bosede Elesho said that the party is prepared for the election in December.
He said the party has never rested as it has been strategizing to give PDP a good fight.
Elder Elesho restates that the merger of ACN and ANPP in the next election, saying that there is no crack in the deal.
