Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Lokoja-Kogi Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, has extended condolences to the Mayaki of Kupa and the people of Kupa Kingdom following what he described as a tragic and devastating incident that occurred in the community.
In a condolence statement on Friday, Ibrahim said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and the disruption of peace in Kupa land, describing the development as a blow not only to the local community but to Kogi State and the nation at large. He noted that, as an indigene of the area and a candidate seeking to represent the constituency, he shared in the grief of the affected families.
Ibrahim called on the Kogi State Government and the relevant Local Government Council to take swift and decisive action to restore peace and order to Kupa land. He urged security agencies to deploy in full force to the area to prevent any further breakdown of law and order, stressing that the safety of residents must remain the government’s top priority.
The lawmaker-hopeful further called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident, insisting that those responsible be identified, arrested, and prosecuted. He warned against impunity, saying justice must be delivered swiftly both to deter future occurrences and to reassure residents that the government remains committed to protecting them.
Ibrahim offered prayers for the families of those who lost their lives, asking for divine strength to help them endure the loss, and for the quick recovery of persons injured in the incident. He also appealed for calm and unity among residents, urging the community not to allow the tragedy to create division but instead to come together to rebuild and strengthen the bonds that have long defined Kupa Kingdom.
He closed his statement with a prayer for God’s continued guidance and protection over the kingdom and its people.
