Over one hundred registered members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday, announced their defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mopamuro local government area of Kogi state.
The defecting politicians from Ward 5 in Mopamuro said their lives have not fared better under the APC led administration in the last three years.
On hand to receive the decampees was the PDP Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon Olasunmole, and the emerging political leader of Mopamuro LGA, Mr Alex Ayodele John, Chairman of Delex Movement and Adekunle Olorunfemi, and the Coordinator of Delex Movement, in Mopamuro LGA
The PDP Chairman described the decision of the APC members to cross to the PDP as a wise decision, urging them not to see themselves as joiners but co-founder of the Peoples Democratic Party in Mopamuro LGA.
The PDP Chairman said with the addition, the support base of the party has been made formidable, as it will positively affect the fortune of the PDP in the forthcoming general election.
He urged those cross carpeting to join in influencing other people who are still lagging behind on the need for them to join hands to move Mopamuro forward using the platform of the PDP.
The Chairman pointed out that joining the PDP is in the interest of the common people, adding that never has the area witnessed poverty like is been experienced now.
The Chairman said the PDP represent politics of development and one that translate into attracting democracy dividends.
He promised all necessary support that would assist those who newly joined in Mopamuro settle down and make the PDP the party to beat in future elections.
Alex Ayodele John, Chairman of Delex movement called on the people to live peacefully, noting that politics should be development centered.
He appealed for unity of purpose among politicians, noting that what should be Paramount on their mind should be how Mopamuro can make the desired progress.
