Former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has said experience from the recent Anambra guber poll shows that Nigeria’s democracy is under threat.

The All Progressives Congress chieftain who spoke in Lokoja however called for the implementation of Justice Uwais’ report on electoral reform to save the nation’s democracy.

He stressed the need for the immediate implementation of the Uwais report to pave way for genuine democracy where votes would count.

He said the right thing for INEC to have done in Anambra was outright cancellation of the election, considering the anomalies that characterized the process, saying no reasonable person would be wasting his time to seek legal redress if he knew that he genuinely lost an election. He wondered why INEC would be introducing new innovation in the electoral process, especially as there is no provision for supplementary poll in the electoral act.
