Well to-do and spirited individuals have been urged to assist orphans in the society.
Chairman, Noble Committee of Friends, Lokoja Chapter, Mr. Ferris Omatule made the call advice when he led other members to donate some food items and cash gift to Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage, Adankolo in Lokoja.
Presenting the items, Mr. Omatule said the committee which was founded in two thousand and two was aimed at reaching out to the needy, less privilege especially orphans, noting that the committee members cut across different works of life.
Mr. Omatule appealed to wealthy people and those in need of children to adopt the orphans in order to reduce hardship by those in orphanages, describing such action as a service to God and humanity.
He called on relevant stakeholders to support the Noble Committee of Friends in its mandate to reach out to more orphanages, saying that the committee is always ready to work with organizations to make life comfortable for orphans in the society.
A senior member of the Committee, Mr. James Akodi noted that orphans in the society are in dire need of help and advised spirited individuals to make it as a responsibility to assist them.
Responding, the Matron of the Home, Mrs. Clara Owusagba thanked the Noble Committee of Friends for the donation and appealed to other Organizations to come to the aid of the orphans to give them sense of belonging.
Mrs Owusagba noted that the Orphanage which was established about six years ago, has so far trained over forty five children who have been adopted.
Items donated include, two bags of rice, one bag of beans, one carton of maggi, four packets of pampers, twenty litres of red oil, and cash donation among others.
