The National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has approved and assigned frequency channel 88.3MHz to Akogba FM in Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu local government of Kogi state.
This was made known by the National Publicity Secretary of Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA), Adekanye Victor Adewale, on Sunday.
Adekanye confirmed that NBC conveyed the approval in a letter referenced NBC/SEC/LIC/19/VOL.IV, dated 17th of March 2022, addressed to the Chairman Board of Trustees of the EACDA and signed by the Director General, Igomu Onoja, PhD.
He added that the letter also included other technical details to be adhered to by the community in the course of setting up the radio station.
“The efforts of the Ekinrin-Adde Community Development Association (EACDA) to pioneer the first radio station in Okunland, Kogi state, has finally scaled the last hurdle with the approval of the frequency channel 88.3MHz assigned to Akogba FM.
“The national executive committee of the EACDA hereby congratulates HRM, the Olu Adde of Ekinrin-Adde and the entire people on yet another historic leap in the history and development of our great community,” he said.
Adekanye called on sons and daughters of Ekinrin-Adde community to support and invest in the new radio broadcasting corporation.
“While we await the technical committee set up by HRM to roll out the modalities for the set up of Akogba FM 88.3MHz, we implore all indigenes to get prepared to invest in the shares that will be put on offer to raise enough capital for the take off of the radio station in order to actualize this dream.
“We wish to state that in as much as we have crossed the hurdle of the approval processes, the license will amount to nothing, if we cannot garner enough financial resources to set up the radio station as required by law. We trust that God will enable and empower us to buy into this profitable business so that we can all be joint shareholders and co-owners.”
