NAKOSS President-elect Pledges to Foster Unity, Quality Welfare for Kogi Students

The new National President-elect of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Comrade Omeiza Moses Audu (aka (Troy), on Friday pledged to foster unity among the students and also make their welfare a top priority of his administration.
Audu made the pledge in a statement after he was declared the winner of the National NAKOSS Presidential election 2018/2019 Session, held at Township stadium on Thursday in Lokoja.
“Permit me to use this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to fulfill all our campaign promises of Reforming, Reinstating and Rebranding Kogi students tagged: “ReKOGInisingStudents.
“This is geared towards enhance harmonious working relationship and friendship among Kogi students in all tertiary institutions across the globe for greater opportunity, leadership and capacity development.
“Quality welfare for students, reunification of Kogi students both at home and in diaspora, human capacity development, building a community of enlightened, purposeful and resourceful NAKOSS and a befitting National Secretariat are our priorities.
“In addition, we shall continue to collaborate with the state government and security agencies to ensure adequate security of our students and safety of lives and property in our campuses and the state at large,” Audu stated.
Audu expressed his gratitude to God, and commended all Kogi students and presidents of various Local chapter of NAKOSS in tertiary institutions in the state and those who traveled from various states across the country for the purpose of the convention.
He commended the immediate past National NAKOSS Executive, led by the outgoing President, Comrade Ahmed Shehu Seme, for their efforts and commitments in addressing the plight of Kogi students while in office.
Audu also commended the efforts of the state government for the peaceful conduct of the election for ensuring that the security agencies were on ground to forestall any break down of law and maintain peace and order.
“We want to specially thank the New Direction Government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for his good works and for laying a strong foundation for Kogi state students.
“We are equally grateful to the governor for his benevolence and goodwill towards the immediate past Executive of the association and the recent increment of NAKOSS Bursary Allowance with about 300 per cent.
“In addition, we thank the governor for his support, love and passion for Kogi students and for making the welfare of the students a top priority in his Administration.
“An evident is the subvention approved for indigenous institutions and the NAKOSS National Body. We are very grateful to the new direction government,” he said.
The President-elect applauded all the officials of Kogi State Government especially the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon Sanni Salisu Ogu; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere; the DG Protocol, Abdulkareem Asuku.
Others include the Commissioner for Works, Lands and Housing, Engr Abubakar Sadiq, the Chief of Staff to the Governor; Hon Edward Onoja; the Deputy Governor, the Hon Speaker, among several others.
“We also commend the efforts and commitment of the Electoral Committee for their neutrality and for giving a level playing ground for all aspirants by conducting a free, fair and credible election. All other stakeholders in particular, the Leader, Faruk Mazai for proper coordination.
“In the past, students elections were most times associated with intimidation and violence, but this particular election was peaceful because the will of the students have prevailed.
“This is the first of its kind and we are happy that Kogi students have spoken,” Audu said.
He commended other presidential aspirants for their maturity and sportsmanship and urged them to join hands with him in building a formidable and proactive association of their dreams, that would create an enabling environment for our students to excel in all areas of life.
Audu, therefore solicited for the continous support of all Kogi students both at home and in diaspora, and all other stakeholders for the betterment of Kogi students.
“In conclusion, I want to specially appreciate my team members who stood firm behind me.
“I am also extending my appreciation to my wonderful and loving family in particular, my late Father, Chief Emmanuel Ojo (Scout), and my beautiful mother, Mrs Mary Otonoku for their efforts in bringing out the best in me.
“Once again, I say thank you for your mandate, thank you for the confidence you repose in me and for giving me the opportunity to pilot the affairs of this noble association at this point in time to a greater height.
