Fourteen local government party chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and 8 members of the state working committee (SWC) of the party have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the state chairman of the Party, Alhaji Muktar Atimah.

The party chairmen and SWC passed the confidence votes at separate meetings held in Lokoja and at the Central Senatorial District of the state at the weekend.

Speaking on behalf of the Party Chairmen, Johnson Ugbaje, the Party’s Chairman in Ibaji LGA, described Atimah’s leadership as one that has added value to SDP in the state.

He reiterated the position of the party supporting the ongoing restructuring of SDP in Kogi State and at the national level.

They supported the party’s decision to suspend the former State Secretary of SDP, Arome Okeme and pledged their loyalty to the leadership of the State Chairman.

Also, at the Zonal Meeting held in Okehi LGA, Central Senatorial District of the State, Zubair Oyiwe who spoke on behalf of the eight members of the SWC, passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the State Chairman, describing him as one who has offered purposeful leadership.

They commended Atimah for his repositioning of the party towards making meaningful impact in the state in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Speaking at the separate meetings, the State Chairman expressed satisfaction with the support of the Party Chairmen and the SWC, pointing out that the party would not allow fifth columnists to infiltrate her ranks.

Alhaji Atimah described the SDP in the state as a party to beat in 2023.

He added that following the repositioning of the party in the state, mischief makers are making efforts to infiltrate her ranks.

He said the decision to replace the State Secretary of the party stands as it was done to safe guard the sanctity of the SDP in the state and at the national level.
