A Socio-political group, Kuli Support Group, has called for massive support for Hon. Ibikunle Simon Idowu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his bid to return to the Kogi State House of Assembly to represent the newly restored Yagba West State Constituency 1.
The group, in a statement titled “A Vision for a Better Tomorrow for Yagba West Constituency,” said Idowu’s leadership had been defined by people-centred service, grassroots engagement and community development.
Its Coordinator, Mr Segun Adebayo, said the legislator’s return would provide an opportunity to consolidate on what the group described as his achievements and deepen initiatives aimed at addressing the aspirations of his constituents.
According to him, Idowu has prioritised youth empowerment, development, opportunities and inclusiveness, while pursuing initiatives designed to respond to the needs of communities across the constituency.
Adebayo said the lawmaker’s relationships with constituents, empowerment programmes and support for community development had demonstrated his commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of the people.
He added that Idowu’s approach to public service was centred on “people, presence and participation,” rather than rhetoric, stressing that effective representation required a lawmaker who understood the concerns of constituents and could articulate them before relevant authorities.
“For the people of Yagba West Constituency 1, Kuli offers the experience and trusted grassroots connection needed to build a strong link between the community and government from the very beginning,” the statement said.
The group also highlighted an empowerment programme through which it said Idowu had supported 210 constituents across Yagba West Local Government Area with millions of naira and placed beneficiaries on monthly stipends.
It said the programme, which covers the wards in the Local Government Area, was aimed at alleviating economic hardship, supporting small-scale businesses and improving the living standards of beneficiaries.
The group maintained that Idowu had demonstrated that leadership went beyond occupying public office, arguing that purposeful representation should be measured by impact, inclusion and commitment to the people.
It described the lawmaker as having demonstrated that quality representation was possible when leadership was driven by the interests of constituents.
The group consequently urged residents of Yagba West State Constituency 1 to support Idowu’s re-election bid, declaring: “A good term deserves another. Let continuity speak. Let performance speak. Let us support his ambition.”
