The governor-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congres, APC, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, was today issued Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
However, the certificate of return for the deputy governor-elect, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, was not presented. The compere at the event had earlier announced that Rt. Hon. Clarence Olafemi will represent and collect the certificate on behalf of Faleke.
In a colourful and well-attended ceremony, the Kogi state resident electoral commissioner, Mr. Halilu Pai, presented the certificate of return to Bello amidst cheers from supporters and party chieftains present at the INEC office, Lokoja.
In his remarks, Bello said his emergence is divine and stated that he will look up to God for direction. He pledged to deliver on all promises made during the electioneering campaign.
Bello highlighted agriculture, education, health and human development as areas his government will focus on.
“APC’s victory was based on the belief the electorates have in me”, he said.
“Before January 27, all warring parties in APC shall be brought on board to move the state forward. What is happening now is a family affair”
Top party chieftains present at the occassion includes Rt. Hon Abdullahi Bello, Rt. Hon. Clarence Olafemi, Alhaji Suleiman Baba-Ali, Senator Ohiare, Comrade Ade Ismail, Senator Salihu Ohize amongst others.
