Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, and his colleague in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, have alleged plot to rig the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa states slated for November and December respectively.

The two governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that there is an ongoing plan by the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to collaborate with security forces, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant agencies in the country “to tailor the forthcoming governorship elections in a particularly direction.”

Speaking in Lagos at the weekend, Dickson, who is running for second term in Bayelsa State, alleged that current moves by the Federal Government-controlled APC and some elements in the party suggest nothing but orchestrated plan to tamper with the election process. “We will resists this with every thing we have,” he said.

Dickson cautioned that the Bayelsa governorship election is not just about him (the incumbent) and the APC governorship aspirants in the state, “it is indeed about the people of the state, the entire Niger Delta and democracy in the country.”

He said he believed President Muhammadu Buhari will not allow himself to be pushed to destroying the legacy of free, fair and credible elections process, which his immediate predecessor in office, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, achieved before leaving office.

Fayose said the PDP would do everything within its capacity to ensure that the APC and their cronies do not rig the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections.
