A foundational member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State and prominent media personality, Hon. Abdulmumin Abubakar, has called on the party’s leadership to address what he termed a persistent neglect of his years of sacrifice and unalloyed loyalty to the ruling party.

Speaking against the backdrop of strategic political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, Abubakar urged the national and state party hierarchy to urgently compensate his long-standing contributions to guarantee sustained electoral dominance in Okene Local Government Area and the wider Kogi Central Senatorial District.

Recounting his journey within the party, the former media aide noted that his commitment to the progressive movement dates back nearly 13 years during the merger that birthed the APC in 2014.

He stated that as a former member of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC)—one of the main legacy blocks that formed the APC—he personally took to the streets on membership drives, persuading residents to join the newly formed party.

“In 2014, that is about 13 years ago, myself and a few others hit the street on a membership drive, convincing people to join our new party then, the APC. I was a member of the CPC that merged to form APC. So, I am proudly a founding member of the largest ruling political party in Africa,” Abubakar said.

Highlighting his electoral track record, Abubakar emphasized that his loyalty to the APC has consistently translated into concrete victories at the grassroots level.

“Since 2015, I have never lost my polling unit, ward, or Local Government to the opposition, never! I also co-piloted the then ‘Kogi Central Media Crew’ that fought the opposition party online during the 2019 general election,” he stated.

Expressing concern over the lack of recognition despite his record of unwavering dedication, Abubakar questioned why the party hierarchy continues to overlook grassroots stalwarts who stood by the party during crucial political battles.

“Why does the same party I so much worked for its success choose to ignore all these efforts? Why?” he lamented.

Abubakar appealed to top party leaders and stakeholders to urgently rectify the party’s reward system ahead of the 2027 polls, stressing that recognizing foundational members and their followers remains essential to preserving the party’s winning momentum in the region.
