Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has expressed concerns that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government is plotting the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Governor Idirs Wada, against the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Prince Abubakar Audu.

The APC under the aegis of Concerned Kogi APC Stakeholders in an article published in Daily Trust, disclosed a subtle plot of subterfuge by a high command of the APC which serves as an obstacle between the party’s candidate and his victory.

In the article signed by the coordinator, Elder Okpanachi Obulo and the Publicity Chief, Sani Shalbu Ogu, it stated that a propaganda by the leadership of the APC has been orchestrated to show that Audu had stolen N11billion, branding him a corrupt man.

According to the Kogi APC, President Buhari had a closed door meeting with the PDP candidate for reasons still unknown, but is yet to meet with the APC governorship candidate a move that was frustrated severally.

“Again, the rally was shifted to today, Sarturday 31st October. Again Mr. President has refused attendance.” The statement reads

“Even more worrisome is that Mr. President had hosted the PDP candidate and incumbent Governor Idris Wada, to a closed door meeting, details of which were never made public.

“We have no reason to believe that Mr President will be swayed by all the anti-Prince Audu sentiments trending within the party’s hierarchy in Abuja into preferring the candidate of our arch rival to the candidate of his own party, but we are anxious that this meeting held at this period of electioneering; more so when every effort by our own party’s candidate to see Mr. President to brief him on the situation of things in Kogi is yet to be successful.

“Furthermore, some elements in Abuja are also spreading fallacy that Gov. Wada covertly worked against his own party in favour of the President in the presidential election. We challenge anyone to produce prove that this ever happened for the avoidance of doubt, our victory was due to the hard work and industry of Prince Audu and nobody else.

“However, if they insist on treading the path of perfidy in high places, we shall proceed all the same to win the election with or without anyone’s support. After all, this election is a Kogi internal affair and the teeming supporters of our candidate are enough to guarantee us victory with or without Abuja, God willing” the statement added.
