Yes, Dino may not be the Messiah or the best we are looking for but to some extent, he has done his part to effectively make the voice of our senatorial district heard on the floor of National Assembly and outside the chamber. He did not just give us a loud voice but to some reasonable length, his projects across the senatorial district have been able to provide succor to some of our age long sufferings.

I actually picked up my pen to write this piece to the good people of Kogi West to at all cost resist imposition and slavery that is looming from the powers that be. It’s Dino’s name at the forefront of the struggle today but certainly, the battle is not about Dino alone but the real implications of the said imposition will surely be on the entire Kogi west as a whole if we can’t defend our decisions and the right choice we’ve made already.

I am not actually writing this to bore you with rhetoric of how we’re going to resist this attempt to enslave us because the tactics of resisting impositions have become part of us in Kogi West, which we’ve demonstrated in time past. We resisted imposition and slavery in the year 2007 from an outsider that wanted to impose a candidate against the choice of electorates but the people’s will prevailed. Similar scenario necessitated the failed recall exercise and also the SDM landslide victory in the just annulled election.

With all indications from our antecedents, the traits of resisting slavery and impositions are embedded in our DNA and we must reawaken the spirit. Kogi West leaders must rise to the occasion if truly they are for the people. The act of being silent over important matters should be things of the past. We must speak with one voice to avoid political slavery. If our forefathers could resist Nupe slave trade on us, why can’t we at all cost resist political slavery we are about to witness now?

To the youths, men, women, lovers of true democracy, Kogi West and supporters of Senator Dino Melaye, we must speak with one voice and not just one voice alone but with a louder voice that will overpower the minority that wants to lord over the interest of the majority in Kogi West for their selfish interest. Let’s not be forced to eat from the plate that we’ve once rejected.

To the powers that be, if the system is so less occupied with developing and implementing people’s oriented policies and lack the knowledge to understand that the decision to chose a senator that will represents a particular senatorial district solely lies on the constituents of that area, here is an opportunity for you to know. It will definitely be more productive to channel those resources you’re wasting to upturn people’s will into a more meaningful and productive projects. Kogi West will remember you for good if road networks coupled with other social amenities remain your priority and not always concern about who represents them.

Cost analysis will do the powers that be good in knowing that, to spend billions of naira just to bringing one person down and impose a candidate against the will of the people is outrageous and detrimental to an underdeveloped state like ours. Let’s put our state on track by embarking on meaningful projects that will better the life of common men on our streets.

Finally, Sen. Dino Melaye remain our choice, we must defend the mandate at all cost. The will of the people is always stronger than any weapon. So, we can and must resist any attempt of imposition again.
