Despite the clear position of the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), on undue interference by State Governments and Party Officials at all levels, there has been persistent moves to undermine the Party’s desire to hold a free, fair and credible primaries in Kogi West, at the instance of Gov. Yahaya Bello and in some cases those he designated as contact persons.
In the last 72 hours, series of meetings have been held to this effect in contravention of the unambiguous position of the party’s national leadership on imposition and conferment of undue advantage on any aspirant.
At the meetings with attendees who are mostly Government appointees, there has been the unfortunate cases of attendees being subjected to intimidations and other actions that are only meted to criminal suspects such as indecent body frisking and temporary phone seizures.
The under listed actions are being planned to achieve a rape on democratic ideals and principles.
The government of Kogi State intends to use political appointees to collect delegates’ tags after they must have been handsomely rewarded.
Names of endorsed, anointed and favoured aspirants are to be written as directed by the Governor.
Directives have been handed down to appointees and some elected office holders especially, House of Assembly members to ensure that all anointed aspirants including Smart Adeyemi are voted for.
Planned deployment of fake policemen and thugs to cause mayhem during the primaries.
Planned importation of miscreants from Kogi East/Kogi Central to intimidate supporters of other aspirants known to have rejected the planned imposition and foment trouble in Kabba, Kogi West Senatorial District Headquarters during the primary elections.
This is to put all relevant security agencies and the National leadership of our great party, All Progressives Congress on notice about the nefarious activities of those bent on actualizing intentions that are not only criminal but also capable of negatively affecting the party and causing a breach of public peace.
Those involved in the conspiracy to thwart the genuine desires of the people are advised to turn a new leaf as all negative actions during the primaries will be resisted within the ambit of the law.
All delegates are implored to be calm and refuse the temptation to be provoked.
